In the world that is mass production and consumption, we have begun to take for granted the labor of those who create the art that we love. However, this is not always the case - at Daria Day, our artisans are empowered to harness their creative energy into the design and production of ethically sourced gemstone jewelry.
Daria Day made the choice to uplift and empower women artisans in Pakistan.

Pakistan is a gorgeous country rich in natural resources. However, it has been exploited for decades. Most gemstones sourced from Pakistan are smuggled out of the country, ensuring that neither those who harvested the gemstones nor their communities see any of the prosperity that their country holds.
We made the choice to break from the status quo. Our name, Daria Day, is derived from the old Persian word “Darius,” meaning prosperity. We work to make sure that impoverished communities can achieve prosperity through fair, ethical wages and practices.
So how did we do it?
First, we partnered with local miners and collectives to source our beautiful gemstones and silver. That way, the local communities benefit from the sale of these gemstones. But we didn’t stop there - all of our exquisite, handcrafted jewelry is designed and created by talented women, artisans who live in the foothills of the K2 region in Northern Pakistan.
These regions are among some of the most impoverished in the world, though they harbor immense talent, creativity, and joy. We believe that the people and communities that rightfully own these natural resources should be the ones to benefit from their use.
We use fair trade practices, and strictly adhere to the principle of uplifting and empowering our artisans through continuous support and high wages. These sustainable, ethical practices help entire communities rise out of poverty in Pakistan.
How do ethically sourced gemstones help?
Our artisans source the gemstones and process them. After that our gemstones go through a rigorous testing process in order to guarantee that they are of the highest quality thanks to our affiliation with the Rupani Foundation, an NGO.
These artisans are women who have experienced great struggles such as living with the impact of climate change in marginalized areas and losing their land or homes throughout their lives. Daria Day empowers them to achieve prosperity through their creativity. They handcraft the pieces and are paid a high wage that allows them to support themselves and their families. Our jewelry design takes place in Toronto making our process a beautiful cycle that works across two continents.
When you buy our designs and wear your jewelry, you hold in your hands these womens’ livelihoods - you have made the choice to directly uplift them, throwing the weight of your support behind their lives, their families, and their futures.

Nahida is a young woman who is passionate about designing and creating jewelry. She hopes to become a designer someday, using her talent and creativity to continue to make beautiful, wearable art. For now, she uses her wages to put her sister through college. The benefits of fair trade practices and education will allow both herself and her sister to remain independent and out of poverty.
Daria Day uplifts countless women like Nahida - women who put their families through college, who aspire to be designers, own their own workshops. Each woman has the potential to break through the cycle of poverty and to live prosperous, happier lives.
